The NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) visited Manila this September as part of its Philippines Partnership Programme, bringing together NUS faculty, Philippine public health leaders, partners, and alumni.
On September 17, 2026, a Cocktail Reception titled “An Evening of Friendship, Networking, and Partnerships for a Healthier Philippines” was hosted at the Columbus Function Room, Discovery Suites Manila in Pasig City. The reception celebrated the appointments of Department of Health Secretary Dr. Edwin Mercado and PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, while providing an invaluable opportunity to deepen ties between the Philippine and Singapore public health communities.
Highlights of the Evening:
- Welcome & Program Opening: The official program opened with welcome remarks delivered by Dr. Harvy Joy Liwanag, Lead of the Philippines Partnership Programme.
- Delegation Leadership & Special Messages: The delegation was led by SSHSPH Dean Prof. Teo Yik Ying, who delivered a special message alongside guest honorees Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho (PhilHealth PCEO) and Dr. Edwin Mercado (DOH Secretary).
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Networking: Attended by representatives from the Singapore Embassy in the Philippines, NUS alumni, and key Philippine health leaders, the event concluded with a dedicated networking session focused on fostering long-term regional health research and policy collaborations.
