We welcomed Dr. Supachai “Kid” Parchariyanon, Founder of the Southeast Asia Health Innovation Hub (SEA HI Hub), during a visit to UP Manila and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
The discussions explored how universities, hospitals, researchers and innovators across Southeast Asia can collaborate more closely to develop, evaluate and translate health innovations.
At UP Manila, the visit brought together colleagues from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Office of International Linkages, Technology Transfer and Business Development Office, and UP SIBOL, including Dr. Leslie Michelle Dalmacio, Dr. Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho, Prof. Maria Eliza Aguilar, Engr. Jed Bellen, and Dr. Philip Fullante.
At PGH, the group met with Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi, Director; Dr. Marie Dione Parreno-Sacdalan, Deputy Director for Training and Research; Dr. Belen R. Dofitas, Coordinator for Research; Dr. Aileen Espina, Coordinator for External Linkages and Universal Health Care; and Dr. Apolinario Ericson Berberabe, Deputy Director for Administration, together with other clinical and research colleagues.
The conversations highlighted a shared regional question: how can promising health innovations move more effectively from research and development into real healthcare settings?
