CIM-RISE 2025 Equips Faculty for Cutting-Edge Research

Cebu City, August 6, 2025 — The Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) hosted its Research Innovation & Skills Enhancement (RISE) program to strengthen faculty capacity in designing and executing impactful research.

The one-day training, held at the CIM Amphitheater in partnership with 101 Health Research, featured intensive sessions on research question frameworks, writing measurable objectives, study design, literature searching, protocol writing, medical statistics, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Venus Oliva Cloma-Rosales, Founder and Managing Director of 101 Health Research, led modules on crafting clear research questions using PICO and other frameworks, applying the FINER and SMART criteria, and aligning objectives with study design. Faculty also learned statistical essentials, from interpreting p-values to selecting appropriate tests, and explored the role of AI tools — including the Innovidence® intelligent library — in accelerating literature reviews and protocol development.

Practical exercises and writeshops ensured participants could apply concepts immediately to their own projects. “Good research starts with the right question — but great research comes from disciplined design, analysis, and communication,” Dr. Cloma-Rosales emphasized.

With enhanced skills and AI literacy, CIM faculty are poised to produce high-quality, relevant research that addresses pressing health challenges in the Philippines and beyond.
